What You Get When You Bring a Watch to Kaliber
Every service tier comes with a defined scope, a written outcome and the information you need to make decisions about your watch.
Back to HomeSix Things That Define the Work
Written Scope First
Scope and price are set in writing before the work starts. You know what will be done, what will not and what it will cost.
Before & After Timing Data
Full mechanical services include a timing machine readout before disassembly and after regulation, so performance change is visible.
Pressure Test Included
Gaskets are renewed and the case is pressure-tested to its original rating — not a general water-resistance check, but the specification the manufacturer assigned.
Replaced Parts Returned
In restoration work, every component removed and replaced comes back to you. Nothing is discarded without your knowledge.
Twelve-Month Cover on Labour
If the same fault reappears within twelve months of a full mechanical service due to the work performed, it is addressed at no further charge.
Malaysia-Specific Storage Advice
Advice on rotation schedules and humidity management is built into retainer services — practical guidance suited to Klang Valley conditions.
Each Benefit Explained
Depth of Technical Knowledge
Mechanical watchmaking is a narrow discipline. The tolerances in a lever escapement are measured in microns; incorrect lubrication of the pallet stones produces a fault that looks identical to worn jewels on a timing machine. Kaliber's work is done by watchmakers who specialise in this area rather than general repair technicians covering multiple categories.
- Regulation tested across five positions, not dial-up only
- Lubrication to movement manufacturer published intervals
- Vintage calibre knowledge covering pre-1980 Swiss and Japanese movements
When a watch arrives losing more than a minute per day, the cause might be a dirty escapement, degraded oil in the barrel, a weakened mainspring, or wear on the gear train — each requiring a different response. The condition report documents what was found, not just what was done.
A Defined Process at Every Tier
Watch servicing can be open-ended if the scope is not fixed at the start. Kaliber uses written scope documents for every job. The price and the work listed in that document do not change without a separate conversation. If disassembly reveals a component that needs replacing beyond the agreed scope, that is discussed before it proceeds — it is not added to the invoice at collection.
- Price agreed before work begins
- No additional items added without sign-off
- Restoration stages approved in sequence
Communication That Stays on the Record
Owners who bring in pieces for restoration receive written updates at each stage of the programme before work continues. For collection retainer clients, every visit produces a written record that accumulates over time into a proper service history — useful when assessing a watch's condition years later or passing it on.
- Condition report on intake
- Scope document before work starts
- Timing results on completion
- Accumulated service record per watch
Pricing That Reflects the Scope
Service pricing at Kaliber reflects a full strip-and-service, not a partial clean or a visual check. The RM 520 full mechanical service covers every component, not a selection. The vintage restoration programme at RM 2,850 is a starting point for agreed scope, not an entry level that expands at every invoice. The collection retainer at RM 4,400 per year covers six watches with collection and return included.
Results That Are Measurable
The outcome of a full mechanical service is not described in general terms — it is shown in timing data. Before and after readings give you a record of the actual rate improvement achieved. Water-resistance is tested, not assumed. For vintage restoration, the condition survey at the start means the completed watch can be compared against a photographic baseline rather than a verbal description of what it looked like when it arrived.

What Sets Kaliber Apart
Photographic Survey Before Every Restoration
Restoration work at Kaliber begins with a photographic condition survey — every surface, every marker, every detail of the case and dial recorded before anything is touched. This is not standard practice at most workshops.
Accumulated Service Records for Each Piece
Retainer clients receive a maintained record per watch that builds over time. After three years, you have a documented service history that travels with the piece and informs future decisions — including when and whether a full service is actually needed.
Klang Valley Collection & Return
Collection retainer clients do not need to travel to the workshop at each visit. Collection and return within the Klang Valley is arranged as part of the annual programme — a practical accommodation for owners keeping multiple watches in use.
Humidity Advice Built Into the Service
Malaysia's climate affects watches differently than the environments most service guidance is written for. Storage advice at Kaliber is specific to Klang Valley conditions — rotation schedules, humidity box settings and which pieces to prioritise in a service queue.
